Dental Hygiene

Bacterial Plaque is the major causative factor of gum disease. It is a film of bacteria, which is present in your mouth and is constantly sticking to your teeth.

These bacteria quickly multiply to form layers of plaque. If not thoroughly removed minerals from your saliva precipitate into the bacterial plaque forming calculus (Tartar).

Gum disease is a major cause of tooth loss. Gum disease can present with:

  • bleeding gums
  • loose teeth
  • bad breath
  • bad taste

If left untreated it will lead to loss of teeth.

oral-hygiene.jpgTreatment is directed at improving the health of the supporting tissues of the teeth.

Many oral diseases can be prevented with proper cleaning techniques and regular hygiene therapy.

Bad breath is a very common occurrence in all adults, and although most of us suffer from it only in the mornings, many patients battle with more serious and persistent bad breath.

In most cases, bad breath is caused by bacteria in the mouth or tooth decay. These bacteria are not being neutralized and produce the gasses that mix with your breath, causing it to smell unpleasant.
