" Dr Ahmed has allowed me to have a Tooth Back- I thought this would never be possible as I had lost some bone around the area too. She placed some bone into the area by a surgical procedure called bone grafting followed by a dental implant on the same day- I didnt feel a thing , she was extremley gentle and I am so glad I had this treatment with her." o.Neilson

Our patients experience –Implant & bone graft
Here’s my brief synopsis of how the treatment went:
“After experiencing some discomfort with a crown on my top front tooth, Dr Ahmed diagnosed that there was an infection in the existing tooth underneath the crown. The actual crown had to be replaced every 3 years at a cost of £300 per crown, and therefore the view was taken that it would be better in the long-run to undertake the implant treatment, which should last for at least 15-20 years.
I was fairly nervous about the treatment due to the severity and length of time that the implant took to be finally fitted, although my initial concerns were calmed by Dr Ahmed, who explained in detail what the treatment entailed and the lasting benefits of the implant.
The treatment began with the removal of my existing tooth which was done by way of local anesthetic. This was not as unpleasant as I first though, albeit a lot of pressure and pulling, there was no pain or discomfort. I opted for a denture to be fitted as opposed to a bridge, as it would be much easier to access the tooth area should there have been an infection. As it transpired, whilst the denture was slightly annoying at first, I soon got used to it and after the first month, I didn’t even notice it was there.
Next was the bone graft which was required because the bone had shrunk due to the initial infection, and bone from outside of the tooth area was required to give the tooth a good platform for the titanium pin to be inserted. I must admit, I was very anxious about this part of the treatment, but again Dr Ahmed reassured me along the way, and the use of a relaxant anesthetic which was injected in a drip form effectively rendered the bone graft completely painless and I was not in a conscious state to even realize what was occurring. The bone was actually removed from the upper jaw bone above the adjacent tooth and patched up with dissolvable stitches, which was unnoticeable to the untrained eye. When I came round after asking Dr Ahmed the same question approx 15 times(!), I returned to a lucid state, and although there was some discomfort, this was dealt with by simply taking Neurofen.
As the tooth area healed, I continued to wear the denture and after 3 months the tooth was inserted onto the titanium pin which was completely painless and didn’t require any anesthetic. The first tooth didn’t fit correctly but is fixed with temporary cement so it can be easily removed, and I was informed by Dr Ahmed that is quite common for this to occur on the first attempt due to sizing difficulties. The second tooth was adjusted and sized and fixed with permanent cement, and I’ve had no problems with it to date. The implant looks identical to the other teeth in my mouth and I’m am extremely pleased with how all the treatment went.
Dr Ahmed and all the nurses at the surgery were always very helpful, reassuring and dealt with any concerns that arose very promptly. Whilst the treatment does seem daunting, it really isn’t as bad as you would think, and I would have no hesitation in recommending going ahead with the implantation process.
Good luck, you’ll be fine!”
All the best,
